Realizing they had a unique take on the sonic universe, Jared Blum and Dominic Cramp formed Gigante
Sound in 2005 as a gateway to the world for their respective musical visions. Sharing an appreciation of the
nostalgic, the dark and hazy, the esoteric and often overlooked genres of electronic music; the pair
embarked on an eclectic far-reaching musical voyage that continues to this day. Ranging from the thrift store
"plunderwerks" of Blanketship and Borful Tang to the darker haunting worlds of Lord Tang, Qulfus and Beaks
Plinth down to the basement sounds of Vulcanus 68 . Along the way, they picked up a couple of friends too,
releasing the likes of the Sunshine Militant Children's Hour and T H E M A Y S.

One of Gigante Sound's strongest champions has been college and public radio..from Bay Area stalwarts
such as KUSF, KALX, KZSU and KFJC to the legendary WFMU in New Jersey. WFMU in particular have
been big supporters; featuring Borful Tang and Blanketship in exclusive broadcast and in-studio
appearances. Gigante artists were also some of the first to be involved with WFMU's heralded Creative
Common's site, The Free Music Archive.

With the release of their demented reworkings of Motown classics, the Motown Meltdown series, Gigante
created a stir in the blogoshpere and in recent years have had reviews prominently featured in
internationally renowned magazine, The Wire, as well as inclusion in their Below the Radar
compilation series. With all of this rootsy support, the music has traveled to various corners of the globe;
from Portugal to Estonia, from Australia to Iceland.

Jonny Wugwump of London based Exotic Pylon says it best:
"Based in California, Gigante Sound is a small but perfectly formed indie label that takes a gleefully
irrelevant and inventive approach to found sound and that least humble of instruments (and the greatest
musical invention of all time) the sampler. They’re far-out wild gaudy and fun but also leap in to moments of
dark poignancy.."

Amen.

DOMINIC CRAMP

...released his first music for public consumption in 1995 on the ambient experimental electronic label,
Silent Records, as Arthur Dent. Many years and monikers later, he is still releasing music. Mostly mining
an experimental and electronic vein of organic debris, collected from an ever expanding library of field
recordings and captured sound; Cramp's solo projects include Borful Tang, Lord Tang and Qulfus. He
plays in the organ/drums/electronics duo, Tiberius, and the electro-acoustic collective, Vulcanus 68 while
touring internationally and recording with Carla Bozuluch’s Evangelista. He is also active mixing,
mastering and contributing to numerous other projects in the San Francisco Bay Area where he is based.
